Sol’s alternative world music is an extravaganza of sounds and colors inspired by the melting-pot of cultures particular to Miami. Her original voice synthesizes her Cuban heritage and her Gypsy soul with the Southern rhythms and the Free spirit that have taken her from her hometown to tour US, Cuba, Europe, Jamaica, and Costa Rica. Whether she sings acappella over her ukule...le or backed by an eight piece band. Sol Ruiz fills the room with her exceptional performance and vocals which are as powerful as her lyrics. Flower Child by nature, Sol developed her own genre where the lines between salsa, country, gospel and blues no longer exist, you’ll feel her every word go right through you.

USA, FlavorPill, “Miami’s own peripatetic soul rebel and tropical troubadour — is simply a badass. With global influences ranging from Cuban son and Balkan music to reggae and mariachi ensembles, she weaves deft lyricism into a bluesy, authentically bohemian sound”

USA, GotFOLK.com, “If Edith Piaf , Lotte Lenya and Leon Redbone were Mormons (think polygamist, not evangelist), their first and foremost child would be Sol Ruiz, as she is both a vocal seductress and ingenue thrashing songwriter. Dressed in a Little Tramp, Charlie Chaplinesque outfit – summer-grass green trousers, a yellow t-shirt emblazoned with the slogan I Pee In Pools, black suspenders, and an honest-to-god Edgar G. Robinson bowler – she is a sight to see, a joy to hear, and her 2010 CD, titled OUTLANDER, is a wonder to behold.”

Miami, Sun-Sentinel, “Everything is fused with English and Spanish lyrics, fueled by personal experiences. The emotional outpouring is often funny, fun and expressive.”

Madrid, Contigo en la Distancia reports, “She gave me a feeling of discovery I thought I had forgotten. Sol unwraps, changes color, and gives the jam exactly what is needed.”
